**This post is really really long and filled with beautiful photos. I apologize in advance**
It is so difficult to put into words what this blog post means to me. Not only is it a giant scratch off my bucket list as a photographer but it’s also a whirlwind of emotions. My big sister married the man of her dreams with their daughter by their side in San Francisco!! As if finding out that they were eloping wasn’t exciting enough, having them ask me to photograph their big day made me so excited. Now if you know Hailey in the slightest, you’ll know that she is not easy to please (I can say that because she’s my big sister LOL) so when Hailey & Jordan asked me to photograph their big day I was scared shitless…..to say the least. Just to take you readers back through history, here’s the story;
On August 2, 2017 (yes I’ve had to keep these photos a secret for weeks now) we were up at the crack of dawn, to get ready for their big day! And trust me when I say “the crack of dawn”… 4am to be exact. The morning was relaxed as the girls started with getting their makeup done by “Bay Area Beautiful” and the guys went for breakfast, leading into Hailey & Jordan’s first look… That is where it all went downhill for me. When my niece Porter came running out towards her dad, Jordan, the waterworks just started to fall. She ran out, full speed, in her little puffy white dress and I just started to ball my eyes out… and every time I think back to this moment I can’t help but smile while my heart gets all warm and tingly (who am I?! haha). Once Porter & Jordan’s first look was complete, it was time for Hailey & Jordan to have their moment…and for me to continue to cry by myself. I’m surprised half of these photos are even in focus :p At 8:30am we all headed to city hall, and I know what you’re all thinking…”Why so early?!” Well if you want those beautiful City Hall staircase wedding photos without hundreds of tourists getting in your way, you’ll get there as early as can be! Over the next hour, we paraded around city hall to photograph this beautiful couple before they said: “I do”.
Hailey & Jordan decided they would get married on the 4th floor of City Hall where they had a quick ceremony and exchanged their own vows and rings (insert more crying from Kelsey here). We continued the celebrations by popping champagne followed by taking a well deserved nap. As if this day couldn’t get any better…I mean, who naps on their wedding day?!?! While we were all jet lagged we were also on a wedding day high which lead to dancing in our hotel room, and doing seat drops on the hotel beds which we’re probably way too old for but when it’s your sister’s wedding day you can do whatever you’d like. The evening continued with dinner and sunset photos, or so we thought it would. After dinner we arrived at “Lands End” where we truly felt like the world was coming to an end. It was foggy, windy, and raining…talk about the perfect weather for wedding photos lol. We truly couldn’t see 20 feet in front of ourselves and we had no clue what this place looked like besides what we had research on Instagram. After freezing our butts off for 30mins we decided enough was enough s we got into a cab and headed back to the city. We all packed our bags and headed home on an early 7am flight.
This day was not traditional in the slightest but I couldn’t have imagined a better way for these two to say I do. Wishing my favourite people many years of love, laughter, happiness and many more nieces and nephews for me, please!!!!
